The University of Fribourg runs the publishing platform SOAP2, which also hosts journals for the University of Lausanne, the Central and University Library of Lucerne, the University of Neuchâtel, the haute école Pédagogique Vaud and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
The University Library provides a solution for hosting and managing the manuscript submission and peer review process for journals.
The University Library provides researchers at the University of Zurich with a platform for publishing Open Access Journals and books.
Goal
The Swiss IPSPs foster Diamond Open Access in Switzerland by strengthening a sustainable, community driven publishing ecosystem that serves researchers who wish to publish journals or books in Diamond OA. The goals of this community of practice include providing, sharing, and combining resources among Swiss IPSPs to reduce duplication of effort, enabling efficient collaboration for the development of optimal services and infrastructures. Through coordinated action and shared expertise, members use DOACH to enhance the quality, visibility, and long-term viability of Diamond OA publishing across the country.
Activities
The Swiss IPSPs have regular meetings to coordinate work and foster knowledge exchange among members. The aim is to improve and further develop publication infrastructures, initiate and conduct projects with direct relevance to Diamond OA, and to collaborate closely with the Diamond OA funding initiative CoDOA and other key stakeholders. In addition, the community of practice engages in communication and outreach activities to raise awareness, share expertise, and strengthen the Diamond OA community in Switzerland.
Initiatives
The Swiss IPSPs started the project DOACH in 2025 to build an information portal with comprehensive information on Diamond OA topics for all interested parties.
Via DOACH, the Swiss IPSPs run the Swiss National Capacity Centre.
The community of practice and its initiatives are aligned with international Diamond OA developments, thus integrating Switzerland in a broader European landscape of Diamond OA centres and hubs, while maintaining strong community roots and a local collaborative exchange.
Responsibilities
The Swiss IPSPs are responsible for providing and maintaining the DOACH webpage as a central and reliable source of information. This includes offering comprehensive and up-to-date guidance on Diamond Open Access for researchers, in particular editors and reviewers, as well as for relevant service providers, while ensuring alignment with current international developments.
